Researchers and communities in dialogue-Round table with phd students

📍Museum of the Near East, Egypt, and the Mediterranean
      Friday, January 30, 9:30 a.m.

The round table Shared Archaeology. Researchers and communities in dialogue offers an opportunity for reflection and dialogue between professors and young scholars on the transformations of contemporary archaeological research in the Near East and the Mediterranean. Having moved beyond the idea of excavation as an isolated act, archaeology today is confronted with the social responsibility of research, the relationship with local communities, asymmetries in the construction of narratives, and the theme of otherness. The presentations address these issues from complementary perspectives, from the production of knowledge to the relationship between excavation, conservation, and communities, to a reflection on the role of the archaeologist “of the East” and “in the East.”

The Round Table program will serve as a doctoral course on Friday, January 30.
