Financial resources
The University annually ensures a dedicated allocation for the functioning of the PhD programme, including the additional 10% provided for by Ministerial Decree (DM) 226/2021 and incorporated into the University Regulations to support research in Italy and abroad, including scientific publications. This budget is provided from the first year also to PhD candidates without scholarships and to those in cotutelle arrangements, ensuring equal access to resources.
During periods spent abroad, all PhD candidates – including those without scholarships – may benefit from a 50% increase of the scholarship for up to a maximum of 12 months (Art. 8.8 of the Regulations). They may also apply to the Sapienza call for international mobility for stays of three months. These instruments concretely support the internationalisation and autonomy of research. PhD candidates are also encouraged to participate annually in University calls to fund Start-up Research and Third Mission projects within calls aimed at promoting the scientific and economic independence of young researchers.

Spaces
Ph.D. students in Archaeology have access to two dedicated study rooms equipped with shared workstations. At the Department of Ancient Sciences’ campus at Vetrerie Sciarra (Building RM103), a room (No. 205) has been set up exclusively for the use of Ph.D. students in the Archaeology Ph.D. Program. This room is equipped with dedicated workstations featuring desktop computers
and a multifunction printer (A4 Brother MFC-L6950 DW model) acquired at the explicit request of the doctoral students themselves.
In the central building of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy (CU003), the Archaeology Library room housing the Lippolis Collection has been designated for the exclusive use of doctoral students. It can accommodate at least 6 doctoral students at a time and features a workstation capable of supporting advanced graphics programs and activities.
