Initiative open to doctoral students in all humanities disciplines.

The Department of Humanities of the University of Calabria is organizing the international doctoral conference “Tessera hospitalis – Interdisciplinary Perspectives in the Humanities”, dedicated to dialogue between different methodologies and perspectives within the humanities.

The initiative, without thematic constraints, invites Italian and international PhD candidates to work in groups of at least two people, coming from different academic disciplinary fields, combining areas such as literature, history, geography, philosophy, art, archaeology, music, performance studies, and linguistics.

The name Tessera hospitalis recalls an ancient symbol of alliance and hospitality, which becomes a metaphor for the aim of the conference: to create a space for encounter, exchange, and reconnection between disciplines that are often fragmented, fostering a genuine methodological hybridization.

Participating groups will be required to propose a shared topic in which each member can use their own research tools while maintaining a common line of dialogue.

Types of Contributions Accepted

Examples of eligible presentations include:

  • reception and transformation of ideas, artistic and literary forms from antiquity to the contemporary age;

  • comparison between different research methodologies;

  • analysis of themes or cultural phenomena from multidisciplinary perspectives;

  • dialogue between theoretical and practical approaches in the field of humanities studies.

Abstracts will be evaluated by the scientific and organizing committee according to relevance, originality, and methodological rigor.

Contributions in both Italian and English will be accepted.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 31 January 2026, to the following email address:
