The day is organized as part of the PRIN2022PNRR project entitled MAPS - Methods and processes for the Analysis of Pluristratified Sites, involving the Universities of Rome Sapienza (Principal Investigator M.T. D'Alessio) and Bologna (Co-Principal Investigator Enrico Giorgi).

On November 13, 2025, the final workshop of the PRIN 2022 PNRR project “MAPS – Methods and Processes for the Analysis of Pluristratified Sites” will be held in the Archaeology Hall of the Museum of Classical Art, at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of Sapienza University of Rome.
 
MAPS is a Project of National Interest (PRIN) funded by the NextGenerationEU – PNRR 2022 program. The project is part of the objectives of Cluster 2 – Culture, Creativity, and Inclusive Society, with the aim of developing innovative methods and processes for the analysis and understanding of multi-layered sites, contributing to the protection and enhancement of historical landscapes, monuments, archives, museums, and cultural heritage.
 
The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with institutional greetings, followed by the presentation of the MAPS project by the scientific coordinators.
 
The scientific program will be divided into two thematic sessions:
 
“Visible Cities,” dedicated to case studies and tools for analyzing the urban and archaeological landscape, with presentations on Ravenna, Rome, and other Italian contexts.
 
“Hidden Cities,” focusing on urban stratification and multidisciplinary investigation methodologies applied to various archaeological sites, including Pompeii and Nora.
 
Throughout the day, scholars and researchers from various Italian and international universities and research institutions will give presentations. The program also includes opportunities for scientific discussions, a concluding round table, and a coffee break.
 
The event is organized by Maria Teresa D'Alessio, Enrico Giorgi, Sara Bossi, and Valerio Bruni.
