From 2 to 13 March 2026
Marzo 2026
In March 2026, a series of seminars entitled Cicero and the Gods will be held, dedicated to analysing Cicero's religious and theological thought in the context of late Republican philosophical culture. The meetings will explore the dialogue between Roman tradition and Greek philosophy, with particular attention to the comparison with Epicureanism, Stoicism and Platonism.
The series opens with seminars by Claudia Beltrão. A further meeting will explore the role of Cotta in De natura deorum.
The series concludes with the presentation of the new edition of De natura deorum (Rusconi 2025), edited by Micol Perfigli and Giuseppe Lentini, offering an opportunity for an updated reflection on one of the fundamental texts for understanding Roman philosophical theology.
The meetings will take place at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of Sapienza University of Rome and are aimed at students, doctoral students and scholars interested in ancient philosophy, Roman religion and the history of thought.
