The University Regulations on research doctorates state that candidates must be admitted to the final exam by the Academic Board and must submit their thesis for evaluation and discussion in order to obtain the research doctorate title in the first available exam session.

There are three sessions, each concluding with the final exam:

  • First session: by January 30th
  • Second session: by May 30th
  • Third session: by September 30th
For each session, candidates will be informed of the date on which they will present before the Academic Board. After being admitted to the final discussion, candidates must upload their thesis on Infostud. They will then receive comments from at least two anonymous reviewers appointed by the Academic Board.
