Gross Annual Personal Income Limit to Receive the PhD Scholarship
As of 1 July 2022, the gross annual taxable personal income limit to be eligible for the PhD scholarship is set at €16,243.00.
The University determines each year the amount of the operating contribution, which includes the 10% supplement provided for by Ministerial Decree (DM) 226/2021 as a budget for research activities in Italy and abroad for PhD candidates enrolled in the first, second, and third year, in favor of the PhD Programs to be used for activities aimed at the proper functioning of the program itself. The main expenditure headings are:
General Operating Funds

PhD candidates’ mobility

Reimbursement of expenses for external members of committees

Participation in conferences and seminars (including registration fees for conferences and seminars).
Please note that it is not permitted to pay fees to an external lecturer invited to deliver a series of seminars/conferences related to the PhD.

Purchase of capital equipment (inventory items) necessary for PhD activities

Purchase of consumables

Postal and shipping expenses

Purchase of information and outreach materials and/or services

Training and/or advanced training courses — Expenses include language courses and/or training courses functionally connected to the specific research of the PhD, subject to any resolution of the Doctoral Board justifying the use of such courses by the candidates

Expenses for organizing conferences and seminars

Software / software licenses — Expenses include the purchase of specialist software/licenses intended specifically for the PhD program.

Publication expenses — Publication of the PhD candidate’s work is decided by the Doctoral Board, which determines whether the publication is functional to the PhD (e.g., open access for a review).

The PhD candidate may, through the coordinator, request the use of the fund, which is managed by the department to which the program is affiliated.
