The world of work presents increasingly demanding challenges and requires skills that are more and more specific, constantly changing, expanding, and evolving. Among these, I believe there is ONE that is very important and quite special—not easily classified as an actual skill, but rather a way of being, a way of living one’s professional and personal world. I include it among the skills even though it is not truly one, precisely to give it the emphasis I believe it deserves, because too often it is overlooked or comes… later! This is LEADERSHIP—a way of being, of acting, of relating to others, whether they are colleagues, collaborators, superiors, or simply the people we interact with at every moment of our lives. Are leaders born or made? What defines Leadership? Which traits characterize successful and effective leadership? There are various leadership models one can be inspired by or identify with. In this session, we will explore the factors that led me, from being a “simple” pharmacy graduate, to taking on important LEADERSHIP roles IN and FOR the pharmaceutical world (and beyond). We will also share how a value system based on ethics, passion, commitment, and respect can be one of the keys to the leadership of today and tomorrow, with the hope of inspiring and guiding others toward “A Better World.” When work becomes passion—notes from a journey and from life
