Educational goals and objectives

MANAGEMENT, BANKING AND COMMODITY SCIENCES
The PhD in Management, Banking and Commodity Sciences is divided into three curricula: Business Management, Banking and Finance, Commodity Sciences; the curriculum Commodity Sciences is divided into two areas: Managerial Area and Tecno-Scientific Area. The main objective is to provide PhD students with an advanced scientific and technical culture, characterized by a strong interdisciplinary connotation, highlighted by the interconnections between the thematic areas of the scientific- isciplinary sectors that characterize the Doctorate.
The training course is aimed at learning approaches, methodologies and research tools specific to the social and managerial sciences, the development of scientific research skills and the acquisition of skills in the specific disciplinary sector. The achievement of the aforementioned objective is declined over a three-year period divided as follows: first year: in-depth study dedicated to the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to methods and methods of social research; specific training
on the basic disciplines and characterizing the three curricula in which the course is organized.
second year: analysis and analysis of the main trends characterizing the socio-economic context (scientific-technological, legal-institutional, paradigmatic-social);
third year dedicated to the definition, elaboration and drafting of thesis work.
Special attention is paid to international cooperation agreements for study, research and training activities, aimed at integrating the training offer.
In particular, the previous international experiences are reconfirmed and further promoted, such as: Settore Dottorato di Ricerca
- the co-tutoring agreement between the Universidad de Huelva (Spain);
- the agreement between the Department of Management and the School of Information of the University of California -Berkeley, which provides for the mobility of students, including PhD students;
- ongoing collaboration with the University of Economics and Finance (FINEC) in St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg Polytechnic;
- cultural exchange, also through the mobility of PhD students, with international Universities and Institutions, including: University of Koblenz-Landau (Germany), JAMK University of Applied Sciences of JYVASKYLA (Finland), Columbia University of New York (USA),
Villanova Business School of Pennsylvania (USA), United Nations Office of Nairobi;
- the promotion of research at international universities such as: University of Antwerp in Antwerp (Belgium), Stern School of Business in New York (USA), the Cass Business School (GB), Regent's University in London and the Bangor Business School (GB).
To this is added the participation of foreign PhD students and the involvement of foreign scholars, based on the rich relational network developed by the Department's teachers.
The educational path ends with the drafting of a doctoral thesis.

Admission Procedure

Qualifications assessment Candidates who compete, at the time of submitting the application and within the deadline of the call, are required to produce the following documentation (in Italian or English):
1) Curriculum vitae and studiorum;
2) Detailed research project, with indications of the curriculum for which the candidate opts, written in Italian or English. It must be contained between 15,000 and 20,000 characters including spaces, structured according to the following points:
a. Title of the research and definition of the area of interest;
b. Elements of originality of the project itself;
c. Theoretical references relating to the chosen thematic area;
d. Description of the specific investigation method according to wich the work is intended
to be organized;
e. Documented feasibility of the project in the three-year period and expected results. In the first meeting for the evaluation of qualifications (in which candidates do not have to appear) the Commission examines the documentation presented, expressing a vote in sixtieths, which respects the following parameters:
a. Curriculum vitae and studiorum, maximum 20 points;
b. Research Project, maximum 40 points. The final mark will be the sum of the individual scores, the minimum mark for admission to the oral exam is 40/60.

Supernumerary foreign candidates:
In the first meeting for the evaluation of qualifications (in which candidates do not have to present themselves) the evaluation will be carried out on the basis of:
1. Degree (s) of study obtained and grade(s) reported, maximum 15 points;
2. Curriculum vitae and studiorum, maximum 10 points;
3. Research project, maximum 35 points.
The Research Project, drawn up in Italian or English, must be structured in the manner described above.
Although the titles presented may be in Italian or English, foreign candidates are still required to have a good knowledge of the Italian language. The final judgment will be the sum of the
individual scores, the minimum assessment for admission to the oral exam is 40/60.

Oral interview Candidates admitted are required to present themselves to the oral test, which takes place in Italian or English and wich consists of an interview relating to the following points:
1) Deepening of the candidate's skills according to the chosen curriculum;
2) Detailed presentation of the research project;
3) Assessment of language skills
The evaluation, expressed in sixtieths, respects the following parameters:
1) Candidate skills, maximum 20 points;
2) Presentation of the research project, maximum 30 points;
3) Language skills, maximum 10 points.
Minimum overall score for admission to the Research Doctorate:80/120.

Foreign candidates who compete in supernumerary must present themselves in person on the day of the oral exam, to illustrate their research project and to carry out a detailed interview with the Commission.
The oral exam will be held in English, however candidates are required to have a good knowledge of the Italian language.
The evaluation, expressed in sixtieths, respect the following parameters:
1) Competence of the candidate, maximum 30 points;
2) Presentation of the Research Project, maximum 30 points.
Minimun overall score for admission to the Research Doctorate: 80/120.
