As part of the operational guidelines for the accreditation, monitoring and improvement of the Doctoral Program in Earth Sciences and on the basis of the Model of Periodic Accreditation of Doctoral Courses approved by ANVUR Board Resolution No. 26 of February 13, 2023, the Teachers' Board appoints an Advisory Board whose internal and external stakeholders of Sapienza will work to deepen the potential for development and updating of the training and research project, with reference to the cultural and scientific evolution of the areas of reference. The task of the Advisory Board is to review and update the educational and research paths of doctoral students, also making use of the previous international comparison with College Members belonging to foreign institutions and to the opinions and proposals for improvement expressed by the Representatives of Doctoral Students in the College itself.
Serving on the Advisory Board as stakeholders internal to Sapienza are Prof. Giovanni Battista Andreozzi, Director of the Department of Earth Sciences, Prof. Michele Lustrino, President of the Teaching Area Council in Geological Sciences, and Prof. Marco Romano, Teaching Contact Person for the Doctoral Program in Earth Sciences.
Joining the Advisory Board as stakeholders external to Sapienza are Dr. Andrea Billi, Research Director at the Institute of Environmental Geology and Geoengineering of the National Research Council (IGAG-CNR) and Dr. Angelo De Santis, Research Director at the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV).
The Advisory Board discusses the update of the educational and research project of the Doctoral Program and the set of general educational and research objectives within which the path that will be followed by the individual doctoral students fits. At the same time, the absence of overlap with other Sapienza Doctoral Programs is verified, giving particular emphasis to the elements of interdisciplinarity, multidisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity, while respecting the specificity of the Doctoral Program. The Advisory Board also verifies the training activities and their relevance to topics related to the training project. The training activities are evaluated so as to provide an adequate advancement of the knowledge of Earth Sciences and Cultural Heritage in quantitative and qualitative terms, also providing for the participation of high-profile Italian and foreign scholars and experts from academia, research organizations, companies, cultural and social institutions. The Advisory Board considers issues of relevance to the debate on science and the impact on society of scientific research in the relevant macrosector, in order to provide doctoral students with adequate educational engagement to foster scientific growth without limiting their research activities. Formative moments of exchange/presentation of the results of research conducted by doctoral students are considered, so as to stimulate their growth as members of the scientific community and create the conditions for their autonomy in conceiving, designing, implementing and disseminating research programs.
