Awareness with SAGacia25: A Symposium of Art Looking at Science

Matteo Giaccari, one of our 38th cycle PHD student, is PI for the third mission initiation project, named “Awareness with SAGacia25: A Symposium of Art Looking at Science”
Greta Peruzzi, on PHD studen from the 39th cycle, is also part of the project.

The outreach project "Sensibilizzazione con SAGacia25: Simposio dell’arte che guarda alla scienza" ("Awareness with SAGacia25: A Symposium of Art Looking at Science", N.b. "sagacia" means "smart" in Italian) has finally been defined and is now operational as of April 2025.
This project aims to raise public awareness of the environmental impacts of extracting strategic resources through an innovative dialogue between a series of meetings, an art exhibition, and a catalog. The target audience is not necessarily composed of experts in the field but includes anyone interested in the topic.
The symposia will be structured in a way that fosters collaboration between artists and scientists to promote shared awareness. The artworks presented at each meeting will be accompanied by scientific presentations by experts in chemistry, geology, and environmental sciences, explaining the phenomena depicted in the works. These presentations will also be accessible online.
