Digestive Diseases

The PhD Curriculum in Digestive Diseases is based on epidemiological factors and onestablished criteria of health interventions to prevent, treat, cure (where possible) and palliate these malignancies. The approach to this complex field can only be multidisciplinary and, as we have seen in the past 10 years, qualified in different fields. This figure is characterized by the known heterogeneity of the tumors themselves, the location (eg colon, liver), by different metastatic patterns, the cellular heterogeneity within the primary tumor and metastasis, the molecular heterogeneity within the same cell. Thus, the decision to train people professionally able to carry out moments of cultural synthesis, bringing together expertise hard to be combined together, is the basis and the aim of this doctoral program. This PhD actually presents projects of basic science , and clinical research(diagnostic or interventional studies in vitro and in vivo, screening programs on cancer involving colon, pancreas, liver, stomach , esophagus.Another research project has focused on risk factors for rare diseases of the digestive system, such as Neuroendocrine Tumors.
