Third year

Activities: Advanced institutional courses Seminar or laboratory-type activities Research-related activities Training and research activities autonomously chosen by the PhD candidate and approved by the Academic Board List of courses/activities: Interventional studies (trials), observational studies, screening of neoplasms of the digestive, gynecological and pulmonary tracts with the aim of producing translational research capable of applying the advanced knowledge produced in the laboratory to the great contemporary clinical problems Methods of admission to the final exam Presentation of the final oral and written thesis following a favorable opinion by the external evaluators as required by the regulation in force. Approval by the teaching staff. Development of the final exam Presentation of the final thesis by oral communication within the commission for the final exam, external to the doctorate. Notes: The PhD Department and the Sant'Andrea University Hospital colleague have available classrooms, study rooms, a library with access to the vast majority of databases and scientific journals and research laboratories where they can carry out their activities.

For the second and third year, English lessons will be taught aimed at learning the methodologies for drafting sector articles and at the oral presentation of research results with the support of IT applications for the presentation of the results. The PhD student will acquire the necessary skills for the use of the most common Operating Systems, main IT applications, principles of data processing, network communication and applicative principles of medical statistics;
You will also be supported in the knowledge and use of the main sector databases.
The PhD student will be supported in the management of basic and clinical research. Students will acquire the skills for drafting a research project, for developing experimental protocols, setting up multi-center clinical trials and managing the relationship with the ethics committees of healthcare facilities. They will also be informed on research funding systems by public and private institutions (MIUR, Foundations, etc) of the EU.

Particular attention will be paid to raising awareness and exploiting research results and intellectual property. To this end, the procedures for filing patents will be indicated.
