The main goal of the course is to answer to the scientific challenge concerning how to achieve robust and accurate softening models for concrete and masonry material and to the societal challenge regarding how to assess existing concrete and masonry structure under gas-extraction induced seismicity, subsidence and settlement problems.
Discrete cracking and interface models will be discussed as well as continuous smeared crack-crush models.
Sequentially linear models and stable solution procedures will be illustrated comparing implicit-explicit methods, and FEM-DEM procedures.
