A window on the peoples and traditions of the Sino-Tibetan-Burmese border

The event, scheduled for December 15, 2022, includes the screening of two unreleased short films of 20 minutes each shot by Valter D'Angelo, an amateur video, on two trips he organized himself in 1987 and 1990.
The short films are about Er hai lake and Bai people, Lijiang and Naxi people, Luku lake and Mosu people. The vision will be preceded by a presentation by Valter D'Angelo, who will tell the circumstances in which he found himself shooting the films, and by Francesco Cosentino, who will frame the area from a historical and anthropological point of view.
After the vision there will be three interventions by Francesco Cosentino, who will talk about the cult of ancestors that takes place in the region, on which he has carried out in-depth research, by Cristiana Turini (University of Macerata), who will focus on dongba and their texts, and finally by Federica Olivotto, who will present some dongba documents present in the "IsIAO Library". The three interventions will be followed by a debate.
