PhD Day

The PhD Day is the traditional annual scientific event of the PhD Program in "School of Statistical Sciences". Designed as a self-managed space organized by PhD students for PhD students, the event fosters an environment of peer-to-peer exchange and collaboration.
The workshop offers the PhD students from all three curricula — Methodological Statistics, Demography, and Actuarial Sciences — a unique opportunity to present their ongoing research and thesis progress within a dynamic, interdisciplinary framework.
In an atmosphere of informal and active participation, our Alumni play a pivotal role. By serving as session chairs and discussants, they share their expertise and provide a vital bridge between academic research and the professional landscape.

The 13th edition of the PhD Day took place on February 12, 2026 (see the Program and the Book of Abstracts).

The event confirmed its crucial role as a space for exchange and professional growth for young researchers.
This year’s edition saw many participants, involving not only PhD students and faculty members from the Department but also guests and experts from external organizations.
The PhD candidates presented their research progress, receiving valuable feedback from a multidisciplinary audience. The dialogue between internal and external participants stimulated the birth of new scientific collaborations, paving the way for future cross-cutting research projects.
