The title of Doctor Europaeus may be awarded in addition to the PhD degree, provided that specific European requirements are met.
1. General Requirements

A research period of at least three months at a university institution in a European country other than Italy;

Positive evaluation of the thesis by at least two reviewers affiliated with university institutions in two different European countries;

The presence on the Examination Committee of at least one member from an institution in another European country;

The thesis defense conducted (at least in part) in an official language of the European Union other than Italian.
2. Procedure
The interested PhD candidate must:

Inform the Supervisor of their intention well in advance;

Plan the period abroad in compliance with the above requirements;

Notify the PhD Coordinator by May 1st of the third year, sending the attached form to the Coordinator and to the PhD Office.
The request must be formally submitted before the start of the thesis evaluation procedure.
