European Renaissance, Modern Civilization And Contemporary Studies CIVIS Summer School / Seminar (Rome, 6-8 July 2020)
Summer school of doctoral studies with the participation of researchers from six of the eight universities of the CIVIS consortium (Aix-Marseille Université, K. E. Univ. Tübingen, Autónoma Madrid, Université Libre de Bruxelles, University of Bucharest, Sapienza University of Rome). Structured in panels, the school will offer contributions of about thirty scholars, and about twenty PhD students and doctors from Sapienza and other Italian and foreign universities, with the aim of involving a truly European audience of scholars. The themes proposed in the various sessions will be broad and transversal, offering an insight into some of the major issues still open on the Renaissance age: the extent of the historical-religious debate during the sixteenth century, the characteristics of patronage in European courts, the role assumed by poetic and theatrical production or by the relationship between literature and figurative arts in the overall cultural system of the Renaissance.
