Annual report

XXXIX Cycle

Prestigious achievements
Through the research activities of its PhD students, the Doctorate has gained significant scientific recognition by presenting research findings in prestigious venues, including the Cumulus Conference in Budapest and Monterrey, as well as the National Conference of the Italian Society of Design (SID) in Venice. During the latter event, they were awarded the prestigious *SID Research Award*, further confirming the excellence of their contributions. Their scientific output also includes publications in Class A journals related to the CEAR08/D sector.

Collaborations and interactions among PhD students
The program of lectures and seminars, combined with participation in major national and international conferences, has fostered strong synergy among PhD students. Among the initiatives undertaken, a collection gathering contributions from the Doctorate’s lectures and seminars is currently being published. Additionally, collective publications have been produced, including the *SID Manifesto on Social Innovation*, which has helped define the role of Design and Research in promoting social improvement in the Public Sector. This work, presented at the SID National Conference in Venice in July 2024, has stimulated a shared reflection, actively engaging the scientific community and enhancing the contribution of young researchers.

Applied implications
PhD students at the Sapienza site have secured additional funding through the *Sapienza Research Start-Up* grant and have contributed to drafting European research proposals that have now been funded. These achievements demonstrate the concrete applicability of their research in supporting scientific and institutional innovation.
