Bonnie Marranca is a New York City-based critic and publisher and the editor of A Journal of Performance and Art, PAJ, which she co-founded in 1976. She has written several collections of criticism, including Performance Histories (2008), Ecologies of Theatre (2012), and Timelines (2021). Marranca has edited numerous anthologies of dramatic texts and criticism including New Europe: Plays from the Continent (2009), Plays for the End of the Century (1996), in addition to The Theatre of Images (1977), a seminal collection featuring Robert Wilson, Richard Foreman and other representatives of American neo avant-garde. She has also published collections of interviews such as Conversations with Meredith Monk (2014) and Conversations on Art and Performance (1999). Marranca's essays have been translated into over twenty languages. Besides writing essays on performance, she has traveled abroad for editing and research, and have taught and lectured in many American and European universities.

Her latest book, Timelines: Writings and Conversations (2021) will be a starting point for a conversation on her life and work in performing arts with Aleksandra Jovicevic. Over the decades, Marranca’s work as a writer and editor has brought her into contact with several generations of artists working worldwide in theatre, dance, video, music, installations, and digital culture. This first-hand knowledge of artistic process and the world of artists is an experience that she will draw on in this conversation, The Times of Our Lives: Transcontinental Dialogue, which will be held at La Sapienza University of Rome, on May 3rd, 2023.
