On November 13 at 17.00 opens, at the Teatro Ateneo, again accessible, the second edition of the festival - "The actor and the performer: tradition and research. Theatre memories of the end of the millennium from the Historical Audiovisual Archive of the University Theatre Center - Department of History Anthropology Religions Performing Arts - Sapienza University of Rome. A series of events to recover, enhance and make known the heritage of the Archive, with the artistic direction of Ferruccio Marotti and the coordination of Stefano Locatelli.
The special project is aimed at recovering, enhancing and promoting the heritage preserved in this archive. After the first edition - born in 2022 - which saw restored and digitalized over a thousand videos documenting the activities of the University Theatre Centre - center of excellence of research on the actor of the University of Rome "La Sapienza"directed by Ferruccio Marotti and hosted by the SARAS Department, the Teatro di Roma, the Teatro di Napoli and the Piccolo di Milano, the exhibition is back, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture. In 2023 there will be 6 meetings from 13 November to 12 December.
The aim is to make known the heritage preserved in the Archive, which is now part of the Department SARAS (History of Anthropology Religions Performing Arts) of the Sapienza University of Rome. Since 2022, the project has received great attention from the public and has received adhesions and requests for collaboration that allow today to give further resonance to the activities, enhancing the precious material preserved in the Sapienza archive. To host the events will be the Teatro di Roma, the Stabile di Napoli and of course the Teatro Ateneo, where forty years ago were held the activities preserved in the archive. In 2024 then the major laboratories will be broadcast by Rai Cultura and broadcast on the web.
On November 13 at 17.00, it will be Carolina Crescentini, who as a student participated assiduously in the workshops of those years, to act as godmother to the exhibition, presenting together with Marotti the video anthology HOW WE WERE: THE LABORATORIES AND SEMINARS OF THE UNIVERSITY THEATER CENTER (1981 - 2013), where viewers can see brief summaries of the work of Eduardo De Filippo and Carmelo Bene, Alberto Sordi and Dario Fo, Peter Brook and Jerzy Grotowski, the Master of Butoh Kazuo Ohno and the master of the rule Marco Bellocchio, up to Toni Servillo, Pier Francesco Favino and many others. You will also hear, from his voice, the spiritual testament of Gian Maria Volonté, who died tragically on set, just before starting a workshop on his work as an actor at the Centro Teatro Ateneo, in the editing of Desirèe Sabatini.
It will follow on November 19 at 11.00 at the Teatro Argentina, in collaboration with the Teatro di Roma, ALBERTO SORDI, LA COMICITÀ DELLA VITA - a seminar at the Centro Teatro Ateneo. DOCUFILM BY FERRUCCIO MAROTTI, EDITION OF DESIRÉE SABATINI, PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARCO ONORATO, in which on 18 January 1981, the great actor, not without emotion, analyzes for the first time and demonstrates his idea of the comedian as an ability to place emphasis on some elements of life, That at the bottom is already comic of his.
The following day, November 20 at 17.00, again at the Ateneo Theatre, the video synthesis of the seminar by ROBERTO BENIGNI: THE COMEDIAN AS INVENTION will show a different dimension, satirical and fantastic together, of the comedian according to the famous Tuscan actor and director.
In parallel to Naples at 19.00, at the Teatro San Ferdinando, the theater that Eduardo rebuilt and that his heirs donated to the city of Naples, will be presented EDUARDO LAST LESSON, LAST SHOW: THE POINT OF ARRIVAL THE STARTING POINT, with a testimony of Lina Sastri and the introduction of Ferruccio Marotti, in which you will see how Eduardo acted for the last time, with a deep humanity and emotion (to the point that the peace-maker who wore sent on tilt for a moment the radio microphone) the two most famous scenes of These Ghosts! in his last lecture/performance he publishes for the chair of History of Marotti’s theatre. The video that is presented in Naples will be replicated in Sapienza on December 5 at 18.00, Levi Hall.
On December 4 at 17.00 at the Teatro Ateneo will be presented: DARIO FO - AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A FABULATORE, introduced by Paolo Rossi with Ferruccio Marotti, a video synthesis of the lessons that Dario Fo held at the Teatro Ateneo, succeeding Eduardo after his death as a professor of Dramaturgy, over the course of three years.
On December 12 at 17.00, always at the Ateneo Theatre, at the end of the cycle, Toni Servillo, together with Ferruccio Marotti, will introduce EDUARDO TELLS EDUARDO: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY ALMOST SECRET OF EDUARDO DE FILIPPO, a video synthesis of the moments in which Eduardo, in the years spent at La Sapienza, he told of himself and his life, accompanied by some of the most famous pieces of his works, with which will begin the celebrations of the forty years of the death of the great author and actor, who worked at the Ateneo Theatre, the last four years of his life, to the utopian dream of creating a theater workshop, aimed at projecting the tradition of theater into the future.
