Since the 1980s, with the development of reflexive ethnomusicology, more attention has been devoted to the figures of musicians, their life stories, the analysis of their performance styles, their repertoires, the transmission of knowledge, and the processes of transformation of musical practices. The seminar intends to reflect on the different ways in which portraits of musicians can be made with the use of audiovisual or filmic documents.
