What is meant by the expression "Christian East"? In what ways can the musics and vocal practices, alive today in the many Christian communities of the East in Sicily, stimulate reflection on the concepts of sound, song and ritual often understood in a crystallized way between West and East? What often creates a sonic disorientation, in what terms is "other" than "us"? These and other questions will be developed in my seminar, by means of unpublished documents from both archival and audio-visual sources resulting from field research.
