Internationalization

The PhD Programme in Endocrinological Sciences pursues structured objectives of mobility and internationalization, in alignment with the University Strategic Plan and the Three-Year Strategic Plan of the Department of Experimental Medicine, by promoting doctoral mobility and scientific exchange with national and international academic and research institutions.
The PhD Programme offers students the opportunity to spend research periods abroad at partner institutions in Europe, the United States, and other countries, typically ranging from 6 to 18 months. These mobility periods are supported by a 50% increase in the monthly fellowship and by a research budget equal to 10% of the fellowship. Mobility is further facilitated through dedicated informational meetings, guidance from supervisors and the programme coordinator in selecting host institutions, and administrative support from the academic-administrative officer for all related procedures.

International mobility is also encouraged, where applicable, by national programmes that require mandatory periods at foreign institutions or within industrial settings.

The international dimension of the Programme is further demonstrated by the activation of joint supervision (cotutelle) PhD pathways with foreign academic institutions (both outgoing and incoming), as well as participation in the Doctor Europaeus programme, with one pathway currently ongoing.

At present, a cotutelle agreement has been established for an outgoing PhD candidate, Dr Anna Lucia Carretti (40th cycle), with Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (Lyon, France), and for an incoming PhD candidate, Dr Krzysztof Glaser (41st cycle), a PhD student at Poznań University of Medical Sciences.

The PhD Programme also promotes incoming mobility of international PhD students and faculty, who contribute to training activities, seminars, and advanced courses. The presence of faculty affiliated with foreign universities within the PhD Board, accounting for approximately 27–30% over the 39th–41st cycles, represents a significant indicator of the Programme’s integration within international scientific networks.

The Programme benefits from a well-established network of scientific collaborations with international universities and research centres, as documented on the PhD website and presented during the Welcome Day. These collaborations support scientific exchange, co-supervision, and mobility opportunities for doctoral candidates.
