Leonardo Morlino - Francesco Raniolo
SEMINAR IN ITALIAN ORGANIZED TOGETHER WITH THE DOCTORATE IN POLITICAL STUDIES
14 giugno 2023 edificio CU002 Scienze politiche - Aula XIII piano terra
What conditions make 'equalising' (distributive or redistributive) policies to counter social inequalities possible? How much and how do the 'opportunity structures' (the political-institutional and economic crisis or stability contexts) and the agency characteristics of the functioning of democracy count? That is, how much and how do the influence (protests and proposals) of citizens and elites, the specificities of representative institutions and the dynamics of entrepreneurs and political coalitions count?
On the possibilities and ways to promote coalitions and egalitarian agendas, the authors discuss - starting from the book "Inequality and Democracy" by L. Morlino and F. Raniolo (Mondadori, 2022) in which eighteen national cases in Europe are analysed - social scientists and representatives of organised civil society.
