The Sapienza University's Phd in Italianistica represents an essential point of reference in the national and international context for research training in the fields relevant to the study of Italian literature and literary cultures from the Middle Ages to the present day. In its educational mission, the Phd in Italianistica has always pursued the intertwining of different approaches to the Italian literary tradition: philological, critical, linguistic, historical; in constant reference with the indispensable comparative correlations (with other traditions, both literary and artistic and musical), as well as literary methodology and theory, also with reference to classical and Romance literary cultures. The College of the Phd in Italianistica organises specific training courses, with cycles of lectures and seminars reserved for doctoral students of the various years, as well as meetings with Italian and foreign scholars on topics of direct interest for the doctoral students' research work and seminars for advanced training. Each year the doctoral students also organise a seminar that over time has proved to be a good training ground for the exchange of training experiences, as documented by the series of publications that from the year 2023-2024 will be included in a series expressly created by the publisher Carocci, chosen for its expertise in the field of humanistic publishing and its national and international circulation. In particular, the Phd in Italianistica aims to provide training - for philological research on the textual tradition of Italian writers, both manuscript and printed; - for historical and critical research on Italian literature throughout its development, able to provide doctoral students with this specific vocation with the fundamental and most innovative tools to carry out high quality studies on the problems relating to the periodisation and characterisation of the various phases and typologies of Italian literature, the dynamics of its cultural models and the experiences of its writers, the interpretative and evaluative analysis of texts in their forms and styles and in their reception and tradition; - for the comparison with contemporary critical methods and theories and with the "comparative" framework of literatures and literary cultures, in the long term of our tradition and in the present, with investigations on the diffusion of Italian literature and cultural models outside Italy, on intellectual emigration, on the writings of foreigners in Italian and of Italians in different languages; ° for perfecting bibliographical and IT skills with dedicated seminars and practical activities; ° for learning how to participate, with adequate information, in competitive tenders. |
