Educational goals and objectives

ANGIO-CARDIO-THORACIC PATHOPHYSIOLOGY AND IMAGING
Specific and in depht investigations in all fields of phisiopathology, both surgical and medical, in matter of cardiac diseases, vascular disceases, thoracic diseases and in all fields of diagnosis by imaging including non invasive investigations, radiology and nuclear medicine. Those disciplines are strictly interwinned and complete each other in research. This Doctoral course is divided into different curricula according to prevalent interest in scientific investigations, be it vascular or cardiac, radiological or nuclear medicine. Every candidate admitted to the doctoral course is asked to present a subject and purpose of research and indicate in which unit or units such a research will be carried out. Equipment, materials and anything else needed for investigation has also to be specified and provided. The candidate must also select a tutor willing to help and check and share responsability for effective development and audit of investigational activities. Every tutor is asked to provide a note about his/her pupils every six months and once a year a plenary meeting is held were the candidates present advancements of their research and discuss them with the entire Faculty. The final goals is to obtain an advancement in knowledge from every research carried out during the doctoral course.

§ research project
mandatory
a) title of the research project (max 100 characters);
b) research objectives (max 900 characters), first describing the general objective and then identifying the specific objective. In the context of a scientific topic, the general objective of the project ("overall objective" or "goal" in English) consists in the solution of a very general problem and represents a very high goal (which requires a lot of time and / or an approach). multidisciplinary). The specific objective is to solve a specific problem and that is what the candidate undertakes to achieve at the end of the three years. The specific objective, which contributes to the achievement of the general objective, can in turn have sub-objectives, normally it is expressed through a noun and not through a verb (it is the goal, not the path) and must be SMART ( Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound). The results expected during the individual research phases must not be described in this section (see following points);
c) state of the art with essential bibliography (max 4,000 characters) which clearly reveals the knowledge of the topics covered and the identification of one or more open problems to which the project intends to respond (with the achievement of the specific objective);
d) brief presentation of the various activities planned during the three years of the project (max 5,000 characters);
e) time table including all the activities (recruitment, data analysis, thesis processing) foreseen during the three years of the project.
