How is institutional communication on urban policy developed and deconstructed? In a scenario where the apologia of urban capitalism becomes the predominant narrative, what is the role of journalistic, independent and 'scientific'; counter-narratives? Are the tools and strategies they use effective in providing a convincingrepresentation of urban phenomena and proposing scenarios of desirable worlds? Or, on the contrary, is it necessary to find new modes of communication and new synergies between communicators (professionals, activists, researchers)?
The seminar aims to provide a space for comparing and pooling communication practices, methods and experiences related to
urban policies, coming from professional journalism, media activism and scientific research, in order to evaluate how and if a critical narrative on the city can influence urban transformations and the awareness-raising of local communities. The involvement of some protagonists of critical counter-narratives is therefore planned.
