Edlira Dushku - "Has my smart IoT device been hacked? Detecting compromised IoT devices with remote attestation protocols"

The Internet of Things (IoT) devices are becoming pervasive in everyday life. Besides enormous opportunities, IoT devices pose serious security and privacy concerns mainly due to their poor security design. Moreover, traditional security solutions are unsuitable for IoT devices because of their low-cost design and deployment in remote environments with limited physical accessibility. Aimed at securing IoT devices, Remote attestation (RA) has recently gained wide attention in IoT systems as a viable security mechanism that remotely detects the malware presence on IoT devices. Various RA schemes have been proposed to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of RA protocols of a single IoT device or a group of IoT devices. This talk will briefly introduce the state-of-the-art RA approaches and present the research works in this area.
