Educational goals and objectives

Private autonomy, Business, Labour and the Protection of Rights from a European and international perspective
The doctoral program consists of six curricula:

Labor Law – This curriculum is designed to provide an in-depth study of labor law disciplines, including aspects related to labor union law, social security, and occupational health and safety. This in-depth study is also conducted with an eye toward the transformations brought about by new technologies and with a balanced consideration of all sources within the multilevel legal system.

Tax Law - This curriculum examines the role of taxation in light of legal, economic, and social developments, as well as European integration. Recent reforms highlight a radical transformation of the field with regard to general principles, the taxpayer-tax authority relationship, tax proceedings and their relationship to criminal proceedings, and the nature and structure of taxes.

Commercial Law and Economic Law - This curriculum aims to promote scientific research, including comparative and economic analysis, in the areas of business in all its forms and throughout its entire life cycle, including crisis, restructuring, and bankruptcy liquidation; competition and market regulation; intellectual property; finance and financial intermediation.

Comparative Private Law - Building on the interdisciplinary nature of the subject, this curriculum provides a solid theoretical foundation in the comparative analysis of legal systems, with a particular focus on methodological approaches and the dynamics of the circulation of legal models within the European and international contexts. It equips students with the critical tools necessary for research on both traditional legal institutions and emerging issues.

Present and Past of European Private Law - This curriculum equips students for research in Italian and European private law and the history of European law. The program explores the categories of civil law, the historical development of European private law, the interests protected by law, the process of European integration and aspects of convergence in the evolution of European legal systems.

Civil Procedure. This course covers civil procedure as set forth in the Civil Procedural Code and in special domestic and foreign legislation, including the procedural aspects of insolvency proceedings and alternative dispute resolution methods. The legal institutions are examined both from a doctrinal perspective and in terms of their practical application. The course is designed to develop students’ analytical and research skills.
