ENGINEERING AND APPLIED SCIENCE FOR ENERGY AND INDUSTRY
The PhD program ensures the acquisition of multidisciplinary skills and knowledge, tightly integrated, and aimed at training scientists oriented towards the world of industrial research, experts in the analysis and management of complex systems. Educational objectives are achieved thanks to possible synergies among the different scientific areas of the researchers involved in the board of professors, summarized as follows:
- Multidisciplinary analysis of complex systems;
- Development and transfer of knowledge for innovative technologies in civil and industrial fields (acoustics, electronics, electromagnetism, optics, photonics, and thermodynamics);
- Participation in the innovation process of companies with mathematical and statistical methods for reliable production processes and uncertainty management;
- Chemical and physicochemical foundations for optimization in various sectors of synthetic processing technologies;
- Study of the interaction between structures and physical environment, including its transformation involving architecture and society;
- Study of mechanics of materials, and non-traditional structures through advanced modeling;
- Study of mechanical systems through the methodologies of theoretical and applied mechanics;
- Analysis of confined environment physics, environmental conditioning for human well-being, methodologies and techniques for the analysis of the environment;
- Study of machines, plants, and electrical and electronic systems for energy, referring to their planning, management, and control, including interaction with computer science, automation, and telecommunications in smart buildings, microgrids, smart grids, smart mobility, smart cities, and power electronic components in industrial applications;
- Study of electrical and energy systems with integration of renewable generation, storage systems, e-mobility systems, innovative energy technologies;
- In-depth study of electrical and electronic measurement science and technology with applications in information engineering, industrial and environmental monitoring, and component and system characterization;
- Smart grid management, mobility management, energy management, green/sustainable finance, and in general, study and analysis of major management issues of industrial systems, infrastructures, and complex systems with an integrated engineering-financial approach.
