Distributed Ledgers Technologies (DLTs) allow to create and maintain an immutable shared database (often called the blockchain) in a fully distributed environment.
DLTs have recently emerged as a new tool enabling exciting applications in the setting of digital currencies and cryptographic protocols.
In this talk, I will review some of these applications, highlighting the challenges in the adoption of DLTs within the financial sector, and with a particular emphasis on my own contributions to the field.
