On the PhD website are listed the courses held for 2019-2020.
The educational offer of the PhD in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology provides for participation in advanced institutional courses, participation in seminars and Journal clubs proposed each year by the PhD School Committee, specific practical training activities, research activities in the laboratory or the field, joint meetings with PhD students of other active cycles to facilitate the exchange of experiences between participants operating in the different research areas for experimental approaches and skills. PhD students belonging to European Marie Curie Programmes follow also seminars and workshops organized within their own programme.
Each academic year, the PhD School Committee selects several courses focussed on basic and innovative research topics, seminars and Journal Club Meetings. The section “download” includes courses delivered during the academic year.
The training of PhD students is completed with other activities such as:
• Attendance of other courses activated in Sapienza or in other universities.
• Participation in national or international Summer/Winter schools for PhD students.
• Participation in Conferences.
The training of PhD students also provides common meetings among all the PhD students and teachers for the 4 curricula, allowing in-depth discussions about specific themes or experience exchanges among participant PhD students working in different basic and applied investigations.
In the 1st year, PhD students must obtain at least 12 CFU chosen from the items listed in the list of courses/activities/seminars, also in other Italian or foreign universities on condition that they are certified, and at least 3 CFU of other educational activities chosen by the PhD students and approved by the PhD School Committee. For the specific type of doctorate, the research activity is mainly carried out in the laboratory and/or in field; the CFU number dedicated to the research activities must correspond to at least 45 CFU/year.
First-year PhD students must follow the basic course for workers' safety and health called "General Workers Training Course" (4 hours by e-learning).
In the 2nd year, PhD students must obtain at least 12 CFU chosen from the items listed in the list of courses/activities/seminars, also in other Italian or foreign universities on condition that they are certified, and at least 3 CFU of other educational activities chosen by the PhD students and approved by the PhD School Committee. For the specific type of doctorate, the research activity is mainly carried out in the laboratory and / or in field, the CFU number dedicated to the research activities must correspond to at least 45 CFU/year.
The 3rd year of the PhD program provides that each PhD student must obtain at least 9 CFU chosen from the items listed in the list of courses/activities/seminars, also in other Italian or foreign universities on condition that they are certified, and at least 3 CFU of other activities courses chosen by PhD students. In the 3rd year, the research activities come to an end; therefore, the CFU are reduced to at least 30. At least 18 CFU will be dedicated to write the thesis and to write and publish the results in international journals.
