Curriculum A - Architectural and Construction

Curriculum A - Architecture and Construction explores the fundamental themes of architectural construction, both new and existing, putting the project in dialogue and in tension with construction techniques and technologies, as well as the artifact with the urban context. The ways of constructing the architectural and urban form are investigated by focusing on the theories of composition and design procedures, exploring the relationship between buildings and context, with particular attention to the relationship between theme, place and type, and that between structure, material and linguistic character as well as with reference to the role that buildings play in defining public spaces and urban structures. The process of defining the project and the building through the study of the relationships between architectural form and expressive character, typologies and construction systems, materials and their innate innovation is the subject of research in this area of study.
