In a preliminary sample of pregnant women (N= 13) and in a age-matched control group (non-pregnant female participants, N= 13), we measured group-differences related to: interoceptive accuracy, interoceptive sensibility, body image dissatisfaction and depressive symptoms by using classical and novel experimental paradigms and self-report questionnaires.
We found preliminary evidence that interoceptive accuracy is higher in pregnant women. We also show that interoceptive accuracy and interoceptive sensibility correlate with body image dissatisfaction and depressive symptoms in the whole sample of participants. Finally, we highlight the peculiarity that these links seems to assume during pregnancy.
