Prof. Paola Vittorioso of the Charles Darwin Department of Biology and Biotechnology - Sapienza University of Rome, will hold a seminar entitled ‘Chemical Genetics: an alternative strategy for studying complex biological systems using small molecules’. The seminar will focus on the concept of ‘Chemical Genetics’, both ‘Forward’ and ‘Reverse’, moving on to case studies: in biomedicine, epigenetics, and plants.

The seminar will present the principal indices of biological diversity, their ecological significance and statistical properties. The conference will explore several topics related to the structural and metabolic characteristics of Bacteria, Fungi, Protozoa, Viruses, and Bacteriogaphs, the exploration of microbial interactions in different environments and ecological contexts, and the implications of viruses in the biology and evolution of microbial communities.
