Research: Sacred and Tyranny in Archaic Greece. Figures, Dynamics and Memory of Autocratic Experiences
Davide Tronchin (Venice, 1997) obtained a BA degree (2019) in Humanities at Ca' Foscari University of Venice with full marks and honours, discussing a Thesis in Greek Epigraphy titled "Il culto eroico di Omero. La testimonianza epigrafica di Ios e del contesto cicladico" (supervisor Prof. Claudia Antonetti). He obtained a MA degree (2021) in Ancient Civilisations: Literature, History and Archaeology at Ca' Foscari University of Venice with full marks and honours, discussing a Thesis in Greek History titled "La congiura di Cilone e i culti epicorici di Zeus Meilichios e Olympios. Tradizione testuale e testimonianze epigrafiche" (supervisors Prof. Claudia Antonetti, Prof. Stefania De Vido, Dr. Ivan Matijašić).
He is currently a PhD student in Philology and History of the Ancient World, curriculum of Ancient History (38th cycle) at Sapienza University of Rome, with a research project titled "Sacrilegio e potere nella Grecia arcaica. Figure, dinamiche e memoria di esperienze tiranniche" (supervisors Prof. Pietro Vannicelli, Prof. Francesco Guizzi).
He is interested in Greek history and epigraphy, with a focus on the sociopolitical history of archaic Greece examined through the lens of the sacred, and in general on Greek religion and culture.
