OVERVIEW
Born in Rome, where he lives with his family, he has been Full Professor of Economics and Business Management since 2006. Since 2009 he has been serving at Sapienza, University of Rome and, since its foundation, as a Senior Fellow at Luiss BS.

His activity is equally divided between academic research and teaching and: business education, advisory (Mattiacci & Partners Srl) institutions and journalism.
He holds positions in public and private organizations – serving as President at Eurispes Scientific Committee, as Scientific Director at Fondazione Banfi and as Italian representative at UE DG AGRI’s Wine Market Observatory- he serves as Board member -at Eur SpA and at some Foundations- and he manages consultancy projects on behalf of public and private entities. He is member at Aspen Institute Italia.

He served as General Secretary and President at the Italian Marketing Association and was a co-founder of the Italian Management Society. His scientific research spreads from marketing issues to strategic ones, and his production can be tracked back to the following keywords: niche, brand communication, consumption, technology, wine and food industry. He published more than 200 contributes.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
As a student he won the first Philip Morris Marketing Award. Then, in 1992, with some friends he turns a statistical analysis company into a marketing research institute (Great Numbers, then GN Research, now Praxidia), which he leaves in 2001 to pursue an academic career. He conducted research for major companies operating in Italy, in TelCo, LCC, and Automotive.

After a long experience as a researcher at the School of Economics in Siena, in 2008 he returned to Sapienza, where he teaches courses at all educational levels-graduate, master's, doctoral-and has held management positions in master's and research centers.
He had the privilege of presenting and defending Professor Philip Kotler's candidacy for him to be awarded an honorary degree in Sapienza, an honor granted in 2019.

He is faculty member of Master MUMM, UPA Academy (Utenti Pubblicitari Associati), ICE Agency ITA and CONI.
He is engaged in science popularization, as the editor of a monthly "Marketing" column in Harvard Business Review Italy, a weekly "EconomicaMente" column in Leggo Free Press, and a monthly one in l’Eurispes Magazine. He has more than 12.000 followers on Linkedin.
