Research: Clay Bonds: Family and Society during the Third Dynasty of Ur

I am currently engaged in a PhD program in Philology and Ancient World History at the University of Rome "La Sapienza," where I am developing a research project titled "Clay Bonds: Family and Society during the Third Dynasty of Ur." My study focuses on understanding social structures and interactions within Sumerian society of the 21st century BC by analyzing judicial documents of the era to uncover underlying socio-economic dynamics. This approach aims to shed light on crucial aspects of daily life and social relationships during one of the earliest historical periods of human history.

My interest in the socio-economic dynamics of the ancient Near East during the 3rd millennium BC has guided both my education and research projects. My master's thesis in Archaeology, which I completed with honors at the same institution, delved into creditor activities in ancient Nippur during the Ur III period, highlighting my commitment to investigating these complex social and economic interactions.

To further enrich my understanding of these dynamics, I have pursued an interdisciplinary approach to my education, taking advanced courses in Roman law, digital humanities, and environmental history. These studies, conducted at prestigious international institutions like Yale University, Oxford University, and the University of Helsinki, have significantly broadened my perspective and enhanced my analytical skills, allowing me to approach my research from multiple angles.
