The purpose of this two part seminar is to expose participants to the logic and techniques of ( mediation analysis, and ( moderation analysis in the context of management research. Part A of the seminar focuses on the role of mediators in theory building, distinguishes between parallel and serial mediation structures, and outlines a systematic procedure to test for mediation Part B, on the other hand, examines the role of moderators in conditioning model relationships, identifies different kinds of moderating effects, and discusses issues associated with the specification, detection, and interpretation of interaction effects Empirical examples are used to demonstrate the use of mediation and moderation analysis in practice
