Educational goals and objectives

Language, texts and documents in all their implications and aspects (linguistic, philological, material, etc.) are the common denominator of the PhD program. The program includes specific curricula covering library, archive and documentation studies, philosophy of Language, general linguistics and language education, Russian linguistics and culture, historical and philological literary studies, geography and gender studies. The PhD program aims to provide graduate students with in-depth and up-to-date knowledge on the major issues related to language and documents (written as well as audiovisual and digital) and to material and immaterial heritage and is characterized by the attention to interdisciplinarity, to the most innovative areas of research in the various fields and to internationalization. The PhD program is recognized as a leader program in various fields and involved in international cooperation, as shown by the provenance of applications from several Italian universities and from many other countries, as well as from qualified public servants.
The curricula of the PhD program are: 1) Library, Archive and Documentation Studies; 2) Theory of Language and Linguistic Education; 3) Russian Linguistics and Culture; 4) Studies in Literature, History and Gender; 5) Geography.

Admission Procedure

Qualifications assessment	Selection will be based upon the research project and qualifications and then, for those who will be admitted, of an interview. Evaluation: A) research project, up to 40 points; B) curriculum vitae, academic grades, language skills and other qualifications, up to 10 points; C) Thesis and scientific publications (6 maximum), up to 10 points. To be admitted to the interview you need a score of at least 26/40 in A (Research project).

Oral interview	The interview, in Italian (and, for the Russian curriculum, also in Russian), is aimed at assessing the background, skills and attitudes of the candidate for research in the scientific areas of the chosen curriculum and with specific reference to the research project presented. The minimum score for a positive evaluation is 40/60.

Il recapito del Dottorato e' dottorato.lcm@uniroma1.it. La selezione avverrà sulla base del progetto di ricerca e dei titoli e quindi, per coloro che saranno ammessi, di un colloquio. Valutazione dei titoli: A) progetto di ricerca, fino a 40 punti; B) curriculum, titoli di studio, conoscenze linguistiche e altri titoli, fino a 10 punti; C) tesi ed eventuali pubblicazioni scientifiche (massimo 6), fino a 10 punti. Per essere ammessi alla prova orale è necessario un punteggio di almeno 26/40 al punto A) (Progetto di ricerca). Il colloquio, in lingua italiana (e, per il curriculum di Linguistica e cultura russa, anche in russo), è rivolto ad accertare la preparazione, le capacità e le attitudini del candidato alla ricerca nelle aree scientifiche del Curriculum scelto e con specifico riferimento al progetto di ricerca proposto. Il punteggio minimo per il superamento del colloquio è di 40/60.

Criteria of the Research Project The research project, with a maximum length of 25,000 characters including spaces (but excluding the bibliography), should specify the following points: 1) Objectives and purposes; 2) State of the art; 3) Methodology and tools; 4) Program (with time frame and possible collaborations with national and international research institutes); 5) Expected results; 6) Bibliographical references. The evaluation criteria are: 1) relevance to the Ph.D. subject areas; 2) importance and originality of the expected results; 3) mastery of disciplinary and methodological competences relevant to the research; 4) information about the state of knowledge regarding the research topic and the most relevant literature; 5) clarity and effectiveness in the presentation of the objectives and in the indication of the approach and the steps of the research; 6) feasibility of the project, congruence between objectives, skills, tools and time available; 7) new elements of the research project with respect to the subject of the master thesis (or equivalent). To be admitted to the interview, the minimum score required for the research project is 26/40. , the file must be uploaded within 22/06/2023 ore 14:00 (ora italiana)
