Born in Catania on May 23, 1965. Graduated in Classical Literature from the University of Catania on March 24, 1988, with a grade of 110/110 cum laude and with the honor of publication. Ph.D. in Greek and Latin Philology from the University of Catania on January 9, 1996. Full Professor of Classical Philology at the University of Catania since November 1, 2005 (though eligibility obtained in 2003). Fellow of the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa at the Fondation Hardt pour l'étude de l'Antiquité classique (1993). Winner of the first prize at the Certamen Capitolinum XXXXVIII (April 21, 1997) for the volume "La tradizione manoscritta della «Mulomedicina» di Publio Vegezio Renato." National Coordinator of Scientific Projects C.N.R. (2000-2003) and FIRB (2001). Editor-in-chief of the journal "Commentaria Classica" (A category ANVUR). Member of the Judging Committee for the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) 2018-20 for the sector "Latin Language and Literature." Member of the Teaching Staff (since 2021) of the Ph.D. in "Philology and History of the Ancient World" at Sapienza University of Rome.
