Stefano Pierguidi graduated in Iconography and Iconology at the University of Rome 'La Sapienza' in 1996 with a thesis on the Modenese painter Giovanni War (1544-1618) and its frescoes with Stories of Esther at the Villa Medici. That same year he was fellow of the Accademia di San Luca. In 1999 he specialized in Medieval and Modern Art History at the same university with a thesis on the frescoes by Giovanni Francesco Grimaldi and François Perrier in Peretti palace in Rome (1644-45), later published in three issues of "History of ' art "(2000-2002). From 2001 to 2010 he taught at the University ICoN online. In 2003 he was a fellow at the Dutch University Institute in Florence for a search on Vasari's designs for the Masquerade of the Genealogy of the Gods (1565), later published in "Zeitschrift für Kunstgeschichte" (2007). In 2006 he qualified as a PhD in Art History at 'La Sapienza' with a thesis on the notebook Rothschild John Guerra and the luck of the allegorical figures in the sixteenth century. In 2006-2007 he worked as an Intern at the Painting Department of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, participating in the organization of the exhibition and the respective catalog of Captured Emotions. Baroque Painting in Bologna, 1575-1725 (December 2008-May 2009). In 2008 he was a contractor at the University of Bergamo for the cataloging project "The allegorical figures in the painting of the sixteenth century." Since December 2008 he is Museology researcher and art criticism and restoration at the Sapienza Università di Roma, where he is associate professor since 2015. He has published more than 100 articles on the most important art journal in the world (as “The Burlington Magazine”, “Mitteilungen des Kunsthistorischen Institutes in Florenz” and “Master Drawings”). In 2019 he organized the exhibition “Guido Reni, i Barberini e i Corsini: storia e fortuna di un capolavoro” at the Galleria Corsini in Rome.
