He graduated in Literary Studies (four-year degree) at the University of Turin, with honours and the right of publication, with a thesis about the Piedmontese production of the painters Tommaso and Matteo Biazaci (supervisors Gianni Carlo Sciolla and Valerio Terraroli). He obtained a teaching qualification at the same university, and for some years now has been a teacher in the high schools in and around Turin. He also studied at the postgraduate School of Historical Artistic Heritage at the University of Milan, discussing a thesis about Lorenzo Fasolo between Pavia and Liguria (supervisors Giovanni Agosti and Jacopo Stoppa).
His research interests include painting between the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance in north-western Italy and the relations of this area with other European regions. His PhD research project at the Sapienza University is dedicated to Liguria and Piedmont in the Mediterranean dialogues of 15th century painting, supervisors Maria Giulia Aurigemma (University of Chieti-Pescara) and Fulvio Cervini (University of Florence).
