Research: Bone fragility in type 2 diabetes mellitus: metabolic and immunoinflammatory determinants

Education and Training She graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 2020 from Sapienza University of Rome, where she subsequently obtained her professional license. In January 2025, she obtained her specialization degree in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases. She completed her diagnostic training with a diploma from the SIUMB specialist school in neck ultrasound. She is currently a PhD student in Endocrinological Sciences at Sapienza University (current cycle). Work Experience She carries out specialist clinical and healthcare activities in the field of endocrine and metabolic diseases at university and hospital facilities. She manages patients with complex clinical profiles, combining professional practice with active participation in research protocols and the management of clinical cases for experimental studies. Skills She possesses skills in clinical database management and scientific literature analysis. She has experience in processing biological samples for molecular analysis (DNA isolation) and in drafting scientific papers and conference abstracts. She is a native Albanian speaker and has a good command of scientific English. Research project The research project focuses on bone fragility in type 2 diabetes mellitus, with a specific focus on metabolic, immunoinflammatory, and epigenetic determinants. The activity involves analyzing biological pathways that affect bone quality and studying specific molecular changes in response to treatments. She was awarded university research grants ("Avvio alla Ricerca" 2022-2024) for the investigation of skeletal microarchitecture, oxidative stress, and bone marrow adipose tissue in diabetic patients. Clinical trial She participates as a sub-investigator in international clinical trials conducted according to GCP (Good Clinical Practice) guidelines. She is actively involved in the SLowDOWN (SitagLiptin in Diabetes for Osteoporosis in WomeN) study, focused on the effects of pharmacological treatment on bone mineralization, and in the PROXYMO-ADVANCE and REIMAGINE2 protocols. Publications and Abstracts She is the author of publications in international journals (including BMC Medicine, Redox Biology, and Hepatology International) and has presented scientific contributions at national and international conferences (EASD, SID, SIE). Her editorial and conference activity is primarily centered on skeletal health in metabolic diseases.
