A special area of interest has been the manuscript tradition of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, from the earliest period to the later stages of the text’s reception (14th-16th centuries), with numerous essays and four monographs to his credit. Furthermore, he has been involved in census work on medieval manuscripts for the AIMD (Italian Association of Dated Manuscripts), the Tuscany Region (CODEX Project), the Museum and Institute of the History of Science in Florence, and the Ministry (ICCU).
He has given over 100 lectures at various universities and cultural institutions in Italy and abroad. He has conceived and promoted several national and international research projects. Since 2019, he has been the Director of the First-Level Master’s Program in Archival Science, Diplomatics, and Paleography (A.Di.P.), sponsored by the main institutions of Ferrara and the region.
