Thesis title: A primer for understanding Climate Change; The case of Tehran and Rome
In recent years we have all acquired the awareness that the climate is changing; an undeniable fact is the global average temperature, which has been growing for more than a hundred years.
More and more frequently, we are witnessing extreme events more or less all over the planet, to name a few, hurricanes in the United States, the Philippines, drought in Iraq, California, or Brazil, incessant rains that cause significant damage, especially in France and in Italy.
Like many other cities, regardless of being different, Tehran and Rome face climate change impacts, especially heatwaves and droughts. As case studies, both cities, specifically District 22 and EUR, deal with air pollution, causing the temperature to rise and creating urban heat islands in the districts. This thesis aims to study the climate change impacts and causes. Moreover, by analyzing significant examples promotes landscape strategies to mitigate urban heat islands and reduce air pollution of District 22 in Tehran and EUR in Rome.
