Thesis title: Correlation and Cuprate-like Physics in Silver Fluorides

Since the discovery of high-Tc superconductivity in copper oxides there has been an intense effort in finding compounds with similar characteristics but different ions. In this thesis, we explore the case of silver fluoride AgF2, recently demonstrated to be an excellent cuprate analogue. Building on research that has demonstrated these similarities, we study AgF2 experimental spectra (XAS, RIXS, VPES, Auger, Optical) using cluster model computations to study the charge-transfer excitations and the spectrum of the d-d transitions; to understand if AgF2 is a correlated insulator, and if so to what family of insulators it belongs; to analyze the magnetic excitations spectrum with RIXS cross-section.
