Research: Afrofuturism and Africanfuturism: Counter-narratives on the future from an (eco)feminist and decolonial perspective.
Rachele Dionisi (1997) is a Ph.D. candidate in Documentary, Linguistic, and Literary Sciences (cycle XXXIX), specializing in Historical-Literary and Gender Studies at the University of Rome "La Sapienza."
In 2020, she graduated with honors in Modern Literature (L-10), discussing a dissertation in Gender Studies, at the University of Rome "La Sapienza".
In 2022, at the same university, she has achieved with honors the master’s degree in Modern Philology (LM-14), with a dissertation in Literary criticism and Comparative literature titled "From Afrofuturism to Africanfuturism: A Postcolonial and Gender Analysis of the Literary Production of Nnedi Okorafor and Tlotlo Tsamaase" (supervisor: Professor Caterina Romeo; co-supervisor: Dr. Giulia Fabbri).
In 2023, she was admitted to the Master's program in Gender Studies and Policies at the University of Rome Tre, obtaining a diploma with a thesis titled "Posthuman (Blackness) and Anthropocene: A Feminist and Postcolonial Reading of Contemporary Africanfuturist Cultural Production."
Currently, she is conducting a research project that critically analyzes the literary production of contemporary African and Afro-diasporic female authors within the cultural currents of Afrofuturism and Africanfuturism.
Her research interests include gender studies, postcolonial and decolonial studies, critical race theory, ecocriticism, environmental humanities, and posthuman studies.
