Nicole Belayche has been Director of Studies Emeritus since 2019. A history graduate, she taught in Orléans (1989-92) and at the Sorbonne in Paris (1992-99), and was a professor at the University of Rennes (2000-02), in 2002 she was elected to the Religious Sciences section (“Religions of Rome and the Roman World”). She has held various positions: secretary of the SR Section (2005-09), head of the master's specialization “Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquity” (2005-11), head of the “Religions and Systems of Thought” program at the EPHE Doctoral School 472 (2010-12), EPHE Research and Innovation Advisor (= VP), 2011-13, member of the Scientific Evaluation Committee (2009-17) and the EPHE Board of Directors (2013-17).
From 2008 to 2011, she was an elected member of Commission 32 (Ancient and Medieval Worlds) of the CoNRS. Member of the AnHiMA team – UMR 8210, of which she was deputy director (2014-18), she has directed several research programs, including the PAI Procope (French-German, co-director), MAEE, ‘Divination in the Greco-Roman World’ (2004-06), ‘The Chicago-Paris Workshop on Ancient Religions’ (co-director 2008-11), and the GDRE CNRS 'FIGVRA. The Representation of the Divine in Greece and Rome" (2008-12). She has been a fellow at several foreign institutions (including Chicago, Princeton, Heidelberg). She was president of the SFER / French Society for Epigraphic Studies on Rome and the Roman World (2008-10).
